Cummulative Frequency of Events per Hour

This tutorial is designed to give you scant instructions on how to compile all the "frequency vs events per hour_week[x].xls" files into a cummulative file. This compilation is very similar to the compilation done to create the weekly files. It is assumed that you now know how do all the steps listed in other tutorials. If you do not remember them, feel free to refer back to the other tutorials.

1. Titles - Open a new Excel file. In A1 type "events/hour" and in B1 type "bin"

2. Open - Open all your "frequency vs. events per hour_week[x].xls files.

3. Copy & paste - On your first "frequency vs. events per hour_week[x].xls file, select and copy all the data cells in column A and paste them into column A of your new file ("frequency of events per hour.xls").

4. Repeat - Repeat step 3 for all of your files. When you have pasted in all the data into the new file, close all but your new file.

5. Sort - Select the "A" for column A and select "sort" from the Data menu. Choose "ok" to sort the column from least to greatest.

6. Find - Scroll down to find the last/greatest number in column A.

7. Bins - In column B, set up the bins with a width of 1 starting at 0 and ending with the last/greatest number from column A.

8. Histogram - Go to the tools menu and choose Data Analysis -> histogram.

9. Details - For the input range, select the data cells in column A. For the bin range, select the numbers in column B. Select "chart output" and for the output range, select cell D1. Click ok.

10. Customize - Enlarge the chart, delete the legend, add data labels, and adjust the font as needed, and rename the x-axis and title appropriately.
