How to get to the NSL

The NSL (Nuclear Structrure Laboratory) is located in the Van de Graaff building that can be found on the Stony Brook University campus map.



The main access is through the physics department. Go down one floor from the lobby. If you are taking the stairs go down on the red stairs. Once you hit the basement turn 180 degrees and when you get to the hallway turn right (follow signs to MARIACHI). At this point you will see a door open with a large letter S. You're almost there. One right and one left will take you to the laboratory. If you are taking the elevators go down to the SL floor. When exiting the elevator go straight until you hit the long hallway and turn left. You will see the door with a big letter "S".

To access the NSL during workshops and school field trips you can use use the highbay door that is marked with a red spot on the image (click to get a larger image). You will see a roll up door and a side access door. Once you enter, please use the stairs to go down and follow signs to the MARIACHI laboratory. This entrance is good for school buses and if you are being dropped off, as it has an easy access from the chemistry building parking lot.

If you are totally lost, take a deep breath, don't panic... You want to find your way to the Physics Department. Once there ask directions to the NSL or call (631) 632-8169.

Handicap Access

Handicap Access is through the Physics Department. Go to the main lobby and take the elevator one floor down to the SL floor. Go straight out of the elevators and go towards the opposite side of the building and make a left towards the NSL (You will see a big letter S and Mariachi signs ). Where to Park

The public (paid) parking garage is located is near the Wang Center at the main entrance. Most parking lots require a Stony Brook or Brookhaven parking sticker, otherwise you will be ticketed. There are free parking lots (commuter parking lot) behind the sports complex towards the train station which are within walking distance.
