Chemical Gel
Perhaps a chemical that will display some type of change when exposed to the energy of cosmic rays can be created in gel form. Maybe when a cosmic ray passes through the gel, the ionization trail will leave an oxidation trial in the gel. The trail in the gel will be in 3 dimensions allowing us to view the path and turns of the particle.

Use a gel substance embedded with two chemicals that will produce a color change when exposed to the energy of cosmic rays.
