Day 1 July 14th, 2008
Today we kicked off the morning with everyone introducing themselves and a brief lesson on constructing a wiki page. Since I already knew how to create a wiki, I worked on creating branch pages off of my main user page. Prior to lunch we downloaded the oscilliscope software and practiced changing the functions.
After our lunch break we began construction of our sound tube to measure the speed of sound. This continued for the rest of the day for the drilling of holes, constructing the circuit, and connecting all of the wires took a very long time.
Day 2 July 15th, 2008
As soon as we arrived we continued the construction of our sound tubes. Once completed I was able to measure the speed of sound to be 342 m/s which is 2 m/s off of the accepted value of 344 m/s. Once complete, we took a lunch and returned to begin working on out pendulum lab. During this lab we measured the period of a pendulum using a microphone and oscilliscope to determine the acceleration due to gravity. Our results produced a value of 9.89 m/s^2 where as the accepted value is 9.81 m/s^2.
Day 3 July 16th, 2008
This morning we built our circuits to determine Planck's Constant. Using my results and plotting them on a graph, I determined planck's constant to be 5.33 x 10^-34 Js which is 20% off from the accepted value of 6.63x10^-34 Js.
