Purpose

This page is to be used to collect ideas for the usages and upgrades that could be made to the scintillator devices. Ideas may be as abstract as they come, anything is acceptable!

Cylindrical Locating Scintillator

Multiple scintillators are built in a cylinder shape. This then creates a sort of "pipe" made out of scintillators. This allows for a more precise detection of cosmic rays. The locating aspect of it is achieved by putting a photomultiplier at the end of each scintillator. The photon would jet off in each direction, and calculating a difference in times it took for that photon to reach one photomultiplier, in comparison to another, could help pin-point the location. These locations could then be compared between corresponding scintillators. Optionally, a solid cylindrical scintillator could be inserted into the middle of the "pipe", allowing for an even larger coincidence analysis.

Rotating Scintillator

A scintillator rotates upon an axis at an undetermined RPM. More surface area ? More particles detected? Possible at all?
