I'm the senior representative on this project from Suffolk CCC [[1]]. We've been working with Helio since the summer the first counter workshop was held and have a standard configuration working system of 5 counters running at the Selden Campus. Our system is setup in the ceiling of the top floor of the Smithtown Science Building with the computer, GPS etc. running in Mike Inglis' office across the hallway. We are also trying to run a radio receiver system using a double dipole antenna. The College provided all the funding for the 1st generation equipment now running except for the counter parts provided by Helio. Our counters are mounted in watertight (therefore light tight) gun cases that we bought for $85 each. We are part of the Physical Science Department on the Ammerman Campus that includes courses in physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology and meteorology. We offer physics course work in conceptual physics, Algebra/trig based physics and a 3 course calculus based physics sequence that is integral to our engineering science curriculum. Please send your students to us for this program and we will start them on their way to a successful 4 year degree in engineering:^) Our best students regularly transfer successfully to the best 4 year engineering schools.

Our counter system is working reliably and we're now focused on getting the radio receiver system working. Currently we are operating one double dipole antenna from the roof of the Smithtown Science building.

I taught at SCCC since 1971 and retired January, 2007. I joined SCCC after 3 years at BNL (Soild State Physics Department), 6 years in the SB Physics and Earth Space Science departments as a grad student, and 2 years on the Apollo Program work done by Oliie Schaeffer. I hold a B.Sc. in Physics from Brooklyn Polytechnic, and an M.A. & Ph.D. from SB. Most of my research experience was in mass spectrometry applications to rare gases in meteorites, lunar samples, solar wind trapped in materials from the lunar surface and geochronolgy. At SCCC I spent the years teaching astronomy and physics and held the title of Professor in each discipline. I was also the Assistant Academic Chair overseeing the Earth Science offerings. On January 22nd, 2007 I officially retired from those duties:^)
