Joe Sundermier

Joe Sundermier has been a teacher since 1983 and currently teaches AP Physics at Deer Park High School on Long Island. His interest in Cosmic Rays occurred six years ago when he got involved in QuarkNet. For the past two summers he has participated in a DOE sponsored program called Laboratory Science Teacher Professional Development (LSTPD). During this time he has helped design the current detectors, which are being installed in area high schools to collect cosmic ray data for the Mariachi Project.

Joe lives in Melville with his wife Geri who is also a science teacher and his children Julie, Alison, Steven and Michael. Besides his interest in cosmic rays, he enjoys volunteering at the Melville Fire Department, Kayaking, and Mountain Biking.
